SCHOOL The Kindred School district serves the communities of Davenport, Hickson, Kindred, Leonard, Oxbow, and Walcott. The school boasts a low student to teacher ratio. With ACT Test Scores at 21.0 vs the state average of 20.7, Kindred offers an excellent learning environment. Along with a very active class B sports program, there are many extra-curricular activities available. RECREATION For a small community our recreational activities are numerous. We have 2 parks, one of which houses a multipurpose building used for family reunions, hobby shows, dances, bazaars and meetings. In 2015 a brand new pool was constructed. There are 2 ball diamonds and a new softball complex. Fishing, hunting, ice skating, cross-country trails and snowmobiling trails are in or near Kindred. CITY AMENITIES

Kindred's volunteer fire and ambulance service proudly provides protection and emergency service to Kindred and the surrounding area as well as mutual aide assistance to several other departments. The Sheyenne Valley Technical Rescue are proficient in grain bin rescue and grain bin engulfment with high angle rope rescue techniques. They are also certified in confined space rescue. This rescue squad is made up of 4 members of the Kindred Fire Department, 4 members of the Horace Fire Department and 2 members of the Leonard Fire Department.
